CONSTRUCTION:
This is a special programme designed to offer free labor to community self-help initiative development projects. Community projects VORD supports includes: school blocks, community recreational centres, library, vocational training centre etc. VORD provides free human labor, technical assistance and materials depending on project.
The aim of VORD is to rife awareness of volunteerism among community youths (folks) and also save funds for hired contractors so that funds can be put in the same or other community development projects.
TEACH A LOCAL SCHOOL:
Volunteers are needed to teach basic subjects in local schools. Volunteers will be placed in local Primary and Junior Secondary Schools (Junior High School). Subjects include English language, Mathematics, General Science, Computer Science, Arts and Culture. This has become very necessary due to trained personnel’s failure to honor postage to these rural communities due to the poor infrastructure of the communities. This lack of teachers in these communities is leaving very great negative impact on these communities as children are left unattended to and given rise to the truancy level in the communities.
CHILDRENS CORNER:
It is a very well designed programme for children. It sounds very entertaining but is making difference in children. The programme gives volunteers wide range of activities to take children through: After school studies (Prep), child health and children sports. Please contact the Resource/Project Director for further information on this project.
• AFTER SCHOOL STUDIES: Volunteers organizes children in the community and help them with their home work (assignments), writing aid, counting (calculation) aid, reading aid etc after school to boost their self esteem and improve moral and academic standards among the children.
• CHILD HEALTH: Volunteers will offer minor health care services to children (dressing wounds, de-worming etc). Volunteers will also teach children personal hygiene as to what to eat, drink, wear etc. also take children through healthy activities to keep children healthy.
